Office Opening Ceremony

After 20 years of serving the community from a converted house in Stoke Newington, NLMHA has now moved into to a purpose built head quarters in Upper Clapton. These new offices will provide much improved facilities for its tenants and better accommodation for staff. The Office was officially opened by Peter Marsh, Chief Executive of Tenants Service Authority, on Tuesday 18th May 2010.

Among the guests present were The speaker of Hackney Cllr Muttalip Unler Mr Anthony Kendall first chair of NLMHA, and Mr Aman Dalvi Director of Renewals & Development at Tower Hamlet Council, and also a former Chair and Vice Chair of the association.

North London Muslim Housing Association was set up in 1986 responding to the distinct housing needs of the Muslim community.

In these challenging times North London Muslim HA have succeeded in working with the Muslim community in North London, ensuring that they are able to articulate their housing needs and aspirations and giving people a voice. The Association has positioned itself as a key partner in a number of different Housing Association partnerships and consortia thus ensuring that it continues to be a recipient of Homes and Communities Agency funding.

North London Muslim HA is proud of its roots in the local community. Today we own and manage 578 properties in several London boroughs.

At the opening events Peter Marsh said

"I’m pleased that the North London Muslim Housing Association continues to deliver services that respond to local needs and involve tenants. Its work goes beyond the bricks and mortar activities, like supporting women’s groups, tackling worklesness and setting up a mobile food co-op.

“This new office building is part of a wider development that brings together key community partners, building on the local co-operation that is already evident in the work of NLMHA.”
